About the Race Across America

The Race Across America (RAAM) is a non-stop cycling race from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland.

It began in 1992 with three determined cyclists and has been growing year on year since to become one of the most respected and longest running endurance sports events in the world.  30% longer than the Tour de France but covered in a third of the time, RAAM is seen as a pinnacle of athletic achievement not only in cycling circles but the greater sporting community.

In July of 2011 Sam Gamble gathered a group of cyclists who decided to accept the RAAM challenge and become the first team from the any of the territories to ever attempt the race. Ranging in ability between Ironman athletes and novice cyclists, the group of five men and three women wanted to ride for a cause, and chose to support the nutrition education efforts of Food First.
